How to Fix Extension Authentication Error

Are you seeing this when you open the Histre browser extension?

This is because either you aren't logged in or the login cookies are blocked.

Are you logged in?

Login here in the same browser where you have the Histre extension installed.

If that fixes it, you can stop here.

Using Firefox?

If logging in doesn't fix it and you're using Firefox, it's most likely because Firefox is not letting the Histre extension access the login cookies of histre.com.

Disable "Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection" just for histre.com. This will not affect the settings of any other websites. This will just allow Histre extension to use histre.com login cookie to make requests to histre.com. You can do this by clicking the switch as shown here:

  1. Go to histre.com
  2. Click the shield next to the url
  3. Turn off enhanced tracking protection for histre.com

Note for Firefox users using Multi-Account Containers: you must sign into Histre from outside a container for the extension to work. This is due to cookie isolation that containers enforce on websites inside them.

Better Fix Coming Soon

A more elegant fix for this is for the extension to use tokens instead of cookies. We originally designed it with cookies so that you don't have to login in the website and the extension separately. But now that Firefox is strictly enforcing the cookie restrictions, we need to change this. We are working on this and the new version will be available soon. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.
