Until now. I am proud to introduce Review Signal. Our goal is to provide the most accurate and honest reviews possible by using the data consumers create. We listen to the conversations, analyze them and visualize them for consumers (for free!). Why Would I Trust That? Every review is an opinion someone shared publicly. That opinion is linked to an identity somewhere, for example a Twitter account. You're welcome to click on any review and see exactly where it came from and determine if you trust that person and their opinion. It's all in the math... sort of You're also welcome to trust Review Signal's ratings. They present an overall picture of a company based on all the messages we've collected about that company. Our math isn't very fancy, it's an approval rating. For example, if 500 people said something positive about company A and 500 said something negative about company A, the rating would be 50%. Keybase is a website, but it's also an open source command line program. Let's walk through a terminal example, which illustrates what Keybase does. All of this can be embedded into other software, written by anyone. The keybase command to the left looks up your pal, "maria", whom you know on github and twitter. In her case, you get back her usernames, which you recognize. > keybase id twitter://maria_h20 > keybase id reddit://maria_leah # etc... these will all find her Note you also could've referred to her directly by her twitter username, as this command shows. Either way, Keybase acquires maria's public key, and public announcements of her public key. The keybase server tells the keybase client where she tweeted, where she posted her gist, etc., and the client actually checks all of them. In maria's case, it also provides a bitcoin address, which she signed with her private key. This signature is verified too. I didn't even know about Bluefin. Still don't. Quoting, "Independent of other media reports, I have it on good authority that Twitter is acquiring Bluefin Labs, a Cambridge, MA-based startup working on social-media analytics around television. The price I’ve heard is in the neighborhood of $100 million, maybe a little less. Not too shabby. Bluefin Labs started in 2008 out of the MIT Media Lab and has raised about $20 million in venture funding from the likes of Time Warner Investments, SoftBank Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Acacia Woods Ventures, and Lerer Ventures."

The Crashlytics info (in the article it is relating to Bluefin): "At least one media outlet suggests that Bluefin is Twitter’s biggest acquisition to date. My sources say that is false. Here’s why. Last week, Twitter acquired another Cambridge startup, Crashlytics, which does mobile software and bug-fixing for app developers. Sources with inside knowledge tell me that deal is worth more than $100 million in cash and stock. That number will be a surprise to most people. It blows out of the water the notion that the deal was a relatively low-priced talent acquisition of a young company. Crashlytics has only been around since 2011; it has raised about $6 million from Flybridge Capital Partners, Baseline Ventures, and a lineup of angel investors who are household names in Boston tech. I’m hearing that those angels got a higher-than-10x return on their investment, plus some of their original money back (because the company apparently didn’t spend it).
