If the histre extension shows "Unable to authenticate with histre.com", the extension could not find your histre.com login. Work through these in order.
1. Log in again
Go to histre.com/accounts/login/ in the same browser where the extension is installed and log in. Then reopen the extension.
Browsers keep a login for about a year, so a login that worked for a long time can quietly expire. Logging in again fixes it. If this worked, you are done.
2. Firefox: check the extension's permission
Firefox asks you to grant extensions access to websites. Without it, the extension cannot use your histre.com login.
- Open the Firefox menu, choose "Add-ons and themes", then "Extensions".
- Click "histre", then the "Permissions" tab.
- Turn on "Access your data for all websites".
3. Firefox: using Multi-Account Containers?
Containers keep separate logins per container, and the extension can only see a login made outside any container. If you log in to histre.com inside a container (you will see the container name in the address bar), the extension will not find it.
- If histre.com is set to always open in a container, remove it first: click the Multi-Account Containers icon in the toolbar, choose "Manage Containers", pick the container, choose "Manage Site List", and remove histre.com.
- Open a new tab with no container, go to histre.com and log in.
- Reopen the extension.
You can add histre.com back to the container afterwards if you prefer to browse it there. The extension only needs the one login outside containers.
4. Firefox: Enhanced Tracking Protection
Rarely, Firefox's tracking protection blocks the login cookie. On histre.com click the shield next to the address and turn Enhanced Tracking Protection off for histre.com only. Other websites are not affected.
