The first upload was January 11, 2006 on http://DavidLehre.com, as only a quicktime file. A fan ripped the quicktime file from my website and re-uploaded it onto youtube. That upload was viewed millions of times before I had a chance to even create my own youtube channel. (Which is why this upload only has 1 Million views.) This movie changed my life, and appeared on ABC's 20/20, Rolling Stone magazine, GQ, Esquire, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Complex, NPR, and many many more. All the press led to phone calls from Agents and Managers out in LA, and I started flying back and forth from Detroit to LA almost weekly. Eventually, I signed with FOX to produce my own Comedy Variety show similar to Chappelle's show, which was slated to air on Fox's new late night time slot at 11PM. Around this time in 2007-2008, there was a massive WGA Writer's strike in Hollywood, which shut down most of the scripted shows in development (including mine). We filmed 2 episodes of that FOX show and clips can still be found online if you dig around! Ultimately, it was an amazing experience and something I'll never forget. I'm super grateful for the doors that this movie opened up for me and continue to meet people who were impacted by this film! Thank you x100000 for watching and supporting!! Please hit the THUMBS UP on this video if you remember watching it back in the day and SUBSCRIBE to check out all my new videos too!! 👍 About the making of the film: This movie was filmed over 5 days in and around metro Detroit, Michigan in late 2005. Each scene was filmed separately on different days. The soundtrack was original music created by me using Apple's soundtrack. The camera used was a Canon XL-2. Audio was the on-camera microphone. The first scene was my real bathroom in my house in michigan, and the lady that walks in on Jeremy taking the photo was my mom! (Her only appearance in my movies over the years). The Bedroom was my real bedroom, and the club scene was filmed in a night club in Pontiac, Michigan. All of the scenes were basically un-scripted, with a loose idea where we wanted each scene to go, and improvised dialogue. We would generally film each scene 3 or 4 times and I would just pick my favorite take in editing. Most of the outrageous / funny moments were totally organic and just happened randomly in the moment. (Like the whole "Angry Beaver" scene haha) The entire cast and crew was just friends of mine. I think the budget of the entire movie was under $500. I think we gave the nightclub owner a couple hundred bucks to film there, but that's about it. A lot of the magic came in the editing phase. I edited the movie for about 2 months. *FUN FACT: We set up a meeting with MTV and showed this movie to them BEFORE it got posted online. MTV had no idea what to do with it and passed on working with me at that time. Flash forward to 2 months later, and MTV was the first network to offer a TV deal-- I ended up working with MTV quite a bit over the past decade and they have always been my favorite network growing up. https://ift.tt/9WtdmxE https://ift.tt/7OlX9id https://ift.tt/hXm2KU6 If you made it this far, comment below DO YOU WANNA SEE THE ANGRY BEAVER? via YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBOfD2JBv0w
