Liked: How the Titanic Disaster Was Almost Much Deadlier. The Titanic disaster was one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters in history in April 1912 - but it was almost way more deadly. If only four things had happened slightly more differently then hundreds more could have died! PLEASE NOTE: - At around the 5 minute 40 mark I mention a boat being lowered at 12.40am and then 1.40pm - I mean to say 1.40 AM for the second boat - As many have mentioned yes indeed, Carpathia DID sink in 1918 after being torpedoed during the First World War. The title refers to the hypothetical question of what if she had sunk that night while attempting to rescue Titanic's passengers.
