When you put it in the machine - the magnetic tape will be pulled out by the Guide Rollers and then wrapped around the Drum. Inside the Drum are several heads that will do the reading the writing of information. The Erase Head removes information when it's in record mode. The Audio and Control Track Head write sound and extra information to the magnetic tape.
