A true woodworkers bench, like this one, will incorporate a number of different work holding mechanisms, including bench dogs, planing stops, hold fasts, or board jacks, and will have one or more woodworker’s vises built into its structure. The design is based on this video from Start Woodworking, which is derived from a plan in the book, Making Workbenches by Sam Allen. All of the hardware and lumber required can be purchased at your local home center. At a minimum the tools required include a drill, circular saw and handheld router, as well as a few jigs, fixtures and specialized bits.
