pricey is debatable since it really isn't. Just each platforms app costs something. Mainly the web app being $9 (just one time) really isn't a big deal at all, but podcasts half the time, you don't want an internet connection, no?

Overall, I mainly want features that don't seem to matter since they are almost never included or mentioned much. For podcast episodes: Being able to bookmark/make notes (text, audio, whatever) and info, links, resources, etc. Audible and Instacast (which is dead now) have it the closest.

More common:
Different variable speeds (especially below 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x) and diff rewind/fast forward increments as well are biggies. Though these are usually included and touted. Just perhaps not as deep as all the variants I listed. #!TO_TAG_bit_more #podcasts #apps #cross_platform #mobile_apps #web_apps #paid #pricey #alternatives #organization #consumption #media #learning #audio #video #pub

Eloquent JavaScript eloquentjavascript.net
Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8910666-eloquent-javascript Goodreads description: "A concise and balanced mix of principles and pragmatics. I loved the tutorial-style game-like program development. This book rekindled my earliest joys of programming. Plus, JavaScript!" —Brendan Eich, creator of JavaScript JavaScript is the language of the Web, and it's at the heart of every modern website from the lowliest personal blog to the mighty Google Apps. Though it's simple for beginners to pick up and play with, JavaScript is not a toy—it's a flexible and complex language, capable of much more than the showy tricks most programmers use it for. Eloquent JavaScript goes beyond the cut-and-paste scripts of the recipe books and teaches you to write code that's elegant and effective. You'll start with the basics of programming, and learn to use variables, control structures, functions, and data structures. Then you'll dive into the real JavaScript artistry: higher-order functions, closures, and object-oriented programming. Along the way you'll learn to: Master basic programming techniques and best practices Harness the power of functional and object-oriented programming Use regular expressions to quickly parse and manipulate strings Gracefully deal with errors and browser incompatibilities Handle browser events and alter the DOM structure Most importantly, Eloquent JavaScript will teach you to express yourself in code with precision and beauty. After all, great programming is an art, not a science—so why settle for a killer app when you can create a masterpiece? #books #javascript #non_fiction #learning #tutorials #creative_commons #open_source #best_of #dev #@@Soma #$kippt_bookmark #pub

Description: "This book has been written for programmers, by a programmer. In order to understand it, you should already know object-oriented programming, for example, via a mainstream programming language such as Java, PHP, C++, Python, Ruby, Objective-C, Swift, C#, or Perl. Thus, the book’s target audience is programmers who want to learn JavaScript quickly and properly, and JavaScript programmers who want to deepen their skills and/or look up specific topics. Speaking JavaScript has four parts: JavaScript Quick Start: Learn a safe subset of JavaScript in less than 30 pages. Background: When, why, and how was JavaScript created? How is it related to other programming languages? What were the important steps that got us to where we are today? JavaScript in Depth: This part is more of a reference: look for a topic that you are interested in, jump in, and explore. I still tried to make it fun to read. Tips, Tools, and Libraries: This part gives tips for using JavaScript: best practices, advanced techniques, and learning resources. It also describes a few important tools and libraries." #books #javascript #non_fiction #learning #tutorials #dev #pub
