Article says "When people write critically about Facebook, they often say that “you are the product being sold,” but I think that by now we all get that...Thus it is a critical choice of any adult as to where they will perform their free labor. Tens of millions of people made a decision to spend their time with the simple, mobile photo-sharing application that was not Facebook because they liked its subtle interface and little filters. And so Facebook bought the thing that is hardest to fake. It bought sincerity." This is complete BS. As commenter, TEDPAVLIC, states, "wasn't the original (sincere?) point of Instagram was to be bought by a company like FB? They weren't making any money. They were just developing good mobile software (whose web presence depended on _other_ websites) that could be easily plugged into a larger beast. Seems to me like they were begging to be bought. I'm guessing there was a decent return on that investment. So is Instagram that "sincere?" Wasn't Instagram meant for exactly this?" #stupidity #disingenuous #lies #sheeple #lemmings #social #media #mass #journalism #bullshit #selling #out #instagram #Facebook #pub
Fred Wilson, some VC who is affiliated with Twitter and Foursquare is acting like he gives a damn about ethics. He's working with companies that are just like the companies he is damning. #hypocrisy #disingenuous #lies #elitism #leader #social #media #scum #journalism #pub
"To put the acquisition in perspective I pulled together data from a selection of 30 notable internet acquisitions over the last 10 years, from Broadcast.com to OMGPop to see if Facebook/Instagram for $1 billion was as crazy as everyone thinks. (I left out companies without public purchase prices or user stats.)" He even uses companies like Zappos and Skype...you know...companies with actual revenue models and/or profitability. Alain de Botton examines our ideas of success and failure -- and questions the assumptions underlying these two judgments. Is success always earned? Is failure? He makes an eloquent, witty case to move beyond snobbery to find true pleasure in our work. #alain #botton #success #failure #meritocracy #society #elitism #bullshit #lies #perceptions #work #video #talk #pub
"magento development india • 21 days ago Good writing here I really really like the way you write your blogs. I will continue to visit your site in the future to read more great blog posts like this one! This is an awesome post here." #comment_spam #blogs #blackhat #footprints #pub

"I think its kinda ridiculous to just make it paid instead of trying to implement a way to reduce spam. So basically we have to pay $20/m for the same thing that was free earlier, which now has a reduced bandwidth of 10gb/m from 50gb/m. Not to mention removing custom domains from the free plan too! You could just have introduced an SMS verification system or used something like MaxMind to keep fraud in check. I don't mind startups increasing pricing over time, it's naturally going to happen. But blaming spam as a reason for that is just sad." #lies #status_quo #pub

Toys R Us bleeding money only true because of debt payments from a buy out. The company itself was fine profitability wise. Just smaller than it once was. #bad_journalism #wrong #lies #patterns_media_trot_out_untrue_tropes #pub
