Fresh on the heels of a free pass from a befuddled congress after admitting that they are a monopoly, Google’s decision to cloak search query strings under the guise of privacy makes it clear they are doubling down on their abusive, anti-competitive practices....It is complete hypocrisy. #hypocrisy #bigboys #corruption #google #pub

Earlier this week, Google made a significant change purportedly to better protect the search privacy of users. In reality, it specifically — and deliberately — left a gaping hole open to benefit its bottom line. If you pay-to-play, Google will share its search data with you. #hypocrisy #bigboys #corruption #google #pub

Scraping App Storm yet I found this link on Google while searching for productivity pr0n stuff before the original text. Doing a new Google search for the first sentence obviously has App Storm come up first. This blog used Adsense. #footprint #splog #scraper #wordpress #google #adsense #ads #spam #SEO #blackhat #pub

"It's so simple, it has only one feature…press 'start activity', type your task and press enter. Focusbar will show up on your screen from time to time, reminding you that it's time to work on what you've planned." It integrates with iDoneThis as well. You can send the task you specify over to iDoneThis. #czarrar #productivity #p0rn #discipline #focus #task #management #free #mac #app #store #nag #google #Snippet #action #IDoneThis #pub

Mapping the Deep Web www.seobythesea.com
"I know that some businesses have placed documents on the Web that have gotten them in trouble with the Securities and Exchange Commission, because they contain information that shouldn’t have been made public, even though the people placing them on the Web didn’t intend them to be public. Those were pretty important. At the risk of confronting the citation analysis approach that Google bases PageRank upon, I’m not sure that a lack of links to a page is a measure of how important or unimportant that page might be. While links are one possible measure of a perceived importance, they aren’t a measure of actual importance." #research #Google #bullshit #common_fallacy #fallacy #pub

"The video above, which just came out, shows the first ten minutes of his keynote where he discusses why the world needs Android. But that is not the interesting part. The interesting part is where he goes after Apple in a not too subtle way. He extols the virtues of an open platform and contrasts it with a “Draconian future, a future where one man, one company, one device, one carrier would be our only choice.” Then he shows a poster of 1984, with the title, “Not The Future We Want.” The reference is to Apple and the iPhone. Gundotra uses Apple’s own iconic 1984 imagery against it to great effect right at about 3 minutes into the video clip." #deceptive #propaganda #Google #pub

"Ok, so the point here is that users need to be specific with their searches. Got it. Apologies for the frankness, but if I want to find blowjob images, I now have to search “blowjob porn.” There is now no way that I can edit my own personal settings to make a search for just “blowjob” yield all results, both NSFW and otherwise. Go ahead and try a search for “blowjob” on Google Images right now. Those aren’t really very relevant results, are they? Users should see the most relevant results for their searches, no matter what. And they should have the option to simply turn off the SafeSearch filter, which they all had just a couple of days ago." #Google #butthurt #benevolent_pattern #authority #pub

the Data Liberation Front www.dataliberation.org
"The Data Liberation Front is an engineering team at Google whose singular goal is to make it easier for users to move their data in and out of Google products. We do this because we believe that you should be able to export any data that you create in (or import into) a product." _No mention of all the tracked data they have of you, of course. This is mostly data not dealing with how Google actually makes their money. An excellent distraction to help keep many of the people who complain about Facebook et al. docile. #benevolent_pattern #disingenuous #Data #Google #butthurt #pub

"There is no doubt that Google is dominant. The Web titan based in Mountain View, Calif., accounted for 74.5% of all U.S. search advertising revenues in 2012, according to research firm eMarketer.
